Today Matt Forney revealed he is the creator of Virginia's Secret Garden, the confessional blog of a sexually submissive Christian housewife that somehow never picked up much steam in the manosphere. Will we find out he is actually Femitheist Divine and Desiree Myers-Leibowitz next?
The past few weeks have seen quite a flurry of hoaxes exposed and identities doxxed in the manosphere. Their twitters and forums are buzzing with scandal and gossip. The blatant contempt figures like Roosh and Matt Forney have for their own readership is shocking and, on some level, very pathetic. I guess the good news is that it gives them less time to pick on women.
Matt explains his motivations here. That he boasts of generating a "three figure income" from a crappy porn book reminds us, once again, that he is still struggling to find a way to make a living as a writer. His claim that by writing porn (for men) he has mastered the feminine voice is debatable. And his criticism of a buddy's wife (who chronicles her wifely sexploits in her own embarrassing blog) reminds me of St. Theresa of Avila's scolding remark to the Lord, "If this is how you treat your friends, no wonder you have so few."
However, there is no doubt in my mind that his observation that most "Red Pill Women" are complete nut-burgers℠ is right on the money.
I'd never even heard of Virginia's Secret Garden until reading your post. Forney strikes me as someone who strives to belong to a group, only to tell them all to fuck off just for the hell of it. For all that apparent traffic, there weren't many comments were there?
ReplyDeleteBut wow, he made a whole $300? In one month? Isn't that what you can earn in a week at Starbucks? Could this be the unethical but lucrative gig he was hinting at on Twitter?
Yeah, this is the first I ever heard of that blog myself. That Matt Forney! What a strange life he leads! (I wonder if he's ever considered getting a day job.)
DeleteI think he's made reference to having some crappy job. I think it might involve lattes, if his jibes against feminists he plans to 'destroy' are anything to go by.
DeleteI kind of wish I had read Virginia's blog before knowing it was written by Forney, to see if I would've been fooled or not. As it is, reading knowing it's fake means it seems really obviously fake. I wonder how the various red pill women who post on his blog feel about his ridiculing of them?
I think they must enjoy being ridiculed; their appetite for attention is that great.
DeleteThese Christian hot wife/red pill/submissive/feminine sites are popping up like 'shrooms now. Leave it to Forney to copycat on this trend and crow about how clever he is. Dude, you really should be ashamed of teasing those poor guys who read this stuff and have wistful daydreams about getting one of these sexy housewives of their very own.
ReplyDeleteWriting actual GOOD erotic fiction or memoirs is not that easy and takes some talent; it's not for hacks like Forney. (and it would actually help if the writer had any actual sexual experiences -- with real live humans)
Would that "three figure income" be actually $4.99?
Katz, you're right, writing "erotic fiction" is not easy at all. I've tried it. Some years ago, I wrote an anonymous blog in which I chronicled my "casual encounters." I grew quite a substantial readership in a short period of time, although my "memoirs" were more wryly humorous than arousing. Actually, trying to write in any specific genre is a hard slog unless one really, really loves that genre himself/herself.
DeleteYeah, I've heard stories of people who think they can become overnight bestsellers by writing romance novels, only to discover that it's not quite as easy a genre to write in as they originally assumed. Ditto aspiring auteurs who think that any idiot could make a half-decent action flick, only to be quickly disabused of that notion themselves. I think these misconceptions probably stem in part from the fact that a good creator makes what they do look easy.

DeleteOr you get Nicholas Sparks :/

I took a writers workshop one summer. The only participant to get published was the gal who wrote bodice-rippers. I tell you, it ain't fair.
DeleteHe's not Desiree.
